On June 24, two earthquakes struck north-central Venezuela — the most destructive in over a century. In the affected region alone, Fe y Alegría runs 39 schools serving more than 21,200 children. Many of those classrooms, and the homes of the families who fill them, were damaged in seconds.
Relief convoys will come and go. But months from now — long after the news has moved on — there will still be a child standing where her school used to be, waiting to learn.
That child is why Galileo Vision exists. We don't do everything. We do one thing, and we do it for the long haul: we get kids back into safe classrooms.
In the hardest-hit communities, every contribution becomes something concrete that gets children back into the classroom:
Rehabilitating damaged schools
Setting up temporary learning spaces
Replacing lost learning materials
Supporting the teachers and students who refuse to give up
